We will continue to update availability as we ship until June as plants become available. Please be sure to select the correct shipping for the quantity of plants you order, failure to do so could delay or cancel your order. Remember shipping can take up to three weeks, although we are doing are best to get orders out much quicker than that. If it is going to be longer than 3 weeks we will do our best to let you know. I’m excited about this springs plant offerings, we got some great stuff in this second round, whether you are a dyed in the wool alpine alpine collector, or a dryland gardener, we have some fantastic succulents, and some rare stuff from the Chilean Andes you can’t get anywhere else. If you are looking to get that rock garden all planted out before summer sets in this is the time to order, remember we sell out fast so don’t wait around, as always supplies are limited.

How about Campanula saxifraga ssp. aucheri, you will find it in this restock!

If you are in the Portland area, Illahe Rare Plants will be at the McMennamins Edgefield Mother Earth Plant Sale on Sunday May 10th, so bring Mom out for that or just stop by to get some plants! That place is special for me as many moons ago I spent a brief stint as the assistant manager of the gardens. I was definitely in over my head at that point, but I can look back with gratitude to Kim Kincaid for teaching me so much about gardening and I got to do some cool stuff in the greenhouses there that they still use today. Click here for details on that sale.

How about Moltkia petraea? This one is sure to sell out instantly

On the home front we will have our open garden and plant sale on May 16th, It’s open to NARGS Columbia-Willamette Chapter Members for an exclusive shopping session from 10-11 and the rest of you from 11-2. The gardens should be popping off as everything seems early this year, but this cooler rainy week has been welcome. Click here to join the chapter and access the early sales hour plus other benefits. Looking forward to seeing you at illahe on May 16th! We will have some great deals on plants, and even a flat or two of stuff that we wouldn’t release until next year but you can get a head start on it if you make it to the sale.

Ooooh Lala, Arenaria androsacea a fantastic cushion plant from Gansu China is in stock!

As always a huge thank you to the customers for keeping the lights on and the illahe packing crew for getting those plants out so you can enjoy them in your garden where they belong! We have some exciting stuff we are working on here, we broke ground on the site of a new lathe house (shade structure) that we will be using to grow bulbs and get alpines through the summer months. We are also thrilled to be working on a new shady rock garden area now that the neighbors have finished the repairs on the retaining wall. That will allow us to extend and diversify the catalog to a whole new cast of shady rock garden species we are excited to grow. This will be a busy summer no doubt!

How about the insanely colored Penstemon whippleanus, it’s a new offering this spring!

We will be shipping plants through May. In June we will wind that down to focus on some of the construction projects around here, although we will continue to offer collection boxes through the summer if you need to fill holes in those rock, crevice garden or troughs. For our Canadian friends we are sorry we can’t ship up there at this time, but we are working on all the registrations to export plants and hope to be at the Fall UBC treasured bulbs sale and maybe some other events up that way when we get all the paperwork sorted out. Borders are a stupid concept invented because humans suck at being nice to each other.

Big Mike and his excavator got the site prepped for our new shade house!

Hope to see you at Edgefield for Mothers day or here at the home garden on May 16th. For those of you that can’t make it here, we hope you enjoy this spring availability and find something to make your garden brighter.

Cheers,

Mark and the illahe crew
