A Vlastimil Pilous collection from Golestan, Iran from one of his last years of collecting seeds. I can imagine that under the current world circumstances no on is going back to that place any time soon. Synonym. Merendera jolantae. You can’t find much on the web on this gem, but some research papers on the conservation status in part of its range in Uzbekestan. Reminds me of our native Sand Lily a bit, large white flowers borne right on the ground.
These are seed grown and like many of the things I grow from seed likely to contain some variation. This is a rare gem and I hope they make it into the hands of skillful growers who can keep this one going and get it into the gardens where it can be appreciated since the ass hats in world domination decided we can’t go and visit the mountains it calls home. Get one now before the native habitat is bombed into oblivion and the species is gone forever.
