Dianthus sp.

$10.00

A delightful seed strain gathered from a long-established rock garden in Sweden, where several miniature Dianthus species and cultivars have mingled freely over the years. The result is a hardy, floriferous mix of tight, evergreen cushions clothed in fine dark, green leaves getting a purple tinge in winter and smothered in late spring to early summer with fragrant blooms in shades of soft pink, rose, and near-white. Very low growing form, great for trailing over a wall, or crevice garden.

Each plant is distinct—some forming dense mats ideal for edging crevices or troughs, others making compact hummocks topped with starry flowers. All share the northern garden toughness and cold tolerance that come from generations of selection in Scandinavian winters.

Thrives in full sun and gritty, sharply drained soil. Perfect for rock gardens, walls, or alpine troughs where dry feet and good air circulation prevail. Hardy to at least USDA Zone 4.

A charming and resilient garden-origin Dianthus of unknown pedigree but certain to delight.
