Dianthus sp.
An mystery Dianthus from the Late Kathy Allen’s wonderful southern Oregon garden. Every may for the last few years I made a pilgrimage to that garden and was so lucky to have known her for at least the last few years of her life. She really was a phenomally gifted propagater with a super talent for seed especially. That’s why I’m guessing these are a hyrbid of some sort, she grew many dianthus and this one is a fantastic mat former with glaucus foliage and bright pink flowers.
Thrives in full sun and gritty, sharply drained soil. Perfect for rock gardens, walls, or alpine troughs where dry feet and good air circulation prevail. Hardy to at least USDA Zone 4.
A charming and resilient garden-origin Dianthus of unknown pedigree but certain to delight.
