Illahe Shop › Erigeron aff flettii

Erigeron aff flettii

$10.00
sold out

I got this seed as Erigeron flettii which is a pretty narrow endemic native to Washington’s Olympic mountains. I am not sure of the id, it matches a lot of photo’s you can find online, but the info seems to be mixed and not sure what to trust as far as the taxonomy on this. What I can say is that it is a super tough, perennial Erigeron with a creeping habit to make tufted mounds of foliage only about 3” tall, that give way to showy lavender hued , sunny centered daisies. It is a drought tolerant one, to me the looks seem similar to E. glaucus but with a bit more linear leaf form.

Update: the first photo is a mature plant in bloom here at illahe and I must say it gives off strong E. glaucus vibes, but when I see it next to the true E. glaucus in the garden here it’s different. So maybe we should just call it Erigeron sp. northwest coast. I’ll keep working on the taxonomy. But regardless, it’s an almost stemless, large flowered daisy with showy flowers that smother it, quite drought tolerant, even in hot sun. makes a dynamite show when in bloom and doesn’t get over 6” Tall!
