A particularly handsome form of our native sulfur buckwheat, collected near Sisters, Oregon, with hairy, silvery foliage forming a compact, low-growing mat. Eriogonum umbellatum is one of the most variable western North American wild buckwheats, occurring across a remarkable range of dry, rocky habitats, and this local form represents the distinctive character of the high desert and volcanic mountains around the Three Sisters region.
