Felicia rosulata
Felicia rosulata is a charming, low-growing perennial known for its striking sky-blue, daisy-like flowers with sunny yellow centers. Its rosette-forming habit gives it a neat, ground-hugging profile, making it ideal for rock gardens, containers, and front-of-border plantings. The narrow, spoon-shaped leaves are arranged in tight basal rosettes, from which wiry stems rise to display the cheerful blooms in late spring and summer.
Native Range:
Endemic to the Northern and Western Cape provinces of South Africa, Felicia rosulata thrives in open, rocky slopes and well-drained, sandy soils of the fynbos biome.
Hardiness:
Hardy in USDA Zones 9–11. In cooler climates, it is best treated as a summer annual or overwintered indoors in a sunny, frost-free location.
Cultivation:
Requires full sun and very well-drained soil. Tolerant of drought once established, but benefits from occasional watering during prolonged dry periods. Avoid heavy or poorly drained soils, especially in winter. Deadheading spent blooms will prolong flowering. Suitable for xeriscaping and Mediterranean-style gardens.
Height & Spread:
Typically grows 6–10 inches (15–25 cm) tall and up to 12 inches (30 cm) wide.
Garden Use:
Perfect for alpine gardens, troughs, sunny borders, and containers. Pairs well with succulents and other drought-tolerant species.
