Globularia meridionalis

$12.00

A charming evergreen perennial native to the Mediterranean region, Globularia meridionalis forms compact mats of leathery, dark green leaves topped with striking spherical clusters of pale blue flowers in spring. Its tidy, low-growing habit makes it ideal for adding texture and color to rock gardens and alpine beds.

Native Range:
Southern Europe, especially Mediterranean coastal areas including parts of Spain, France, and Italy.

Hardiness:
USDA Zones 7–9. Prefers mild winters and can tolerate light frost but benefits from some winter protection in colder climates.

Cultivation in Rock Gardens:
Thrives in full sun with well-drained, gritty or sandy soils. Excellent for rockeries, crevices, and alpine gardens where drainage is excellent. Drought-tolerant once established but appreciates occasional watering during prolonged dry spells. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils. Propagate by division or semi-ripe cuttings.

Height: 4–6 inches
Bloom Time: Early to mid spring
Soil Needs: Well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soils
Water Requirements: Low to moderate
