Iris 'Kat' aff. 'Kay'
This is an exceptionally nice dwarf bearded iris, with dark, dark purple standards and a bright golden beard that really pops out. It’s mini dwarf bearded for sure, but I cannot find the name verified anywhere out on the interwebs.
Update! An astute catalog reader pointed out that this looks a lot like the hybrid ‘Kay’ and with only one letter being off, and it being very easy to mistake a y for T, this is most likely our mystery. I will update next year when it’s blooming and I can do a full on verification. Thank you reader of the catalog!
I got it either from Kathy Allens garden or the Portland Iris club sale, my records don’t verify which one. Maybe it’s just a good plant that doesn’t need a pedigree, like any good loyal mutt we call best friend. This one absolutely shines in the rock garden, needing no water for the summer, it does it’s late spring show and then quietly blends into the landscape.

Iris are shipped bareroot and ready for planting.
