Mimulus 'Mellow Yellw'
This is a plant I got from long time Portland area rock gardener Jan Jeddeloh, Jan and I both share a love of the monkey flowers and she has been breeding them for some years now. This one seems to be closer to the lewisii gene pool but with a wonderful, golden yellow bloom.
These are fantastic native hybrids for a wet spot or along a creek if you have one, in the garden they do tend to enjoy copius amounts of water or wet feet.
I’m sorry to the botanist with the DNA machine, but I like Mimulus, I have the Monograph of the Genus published in 1928 by Adele Lewis Grant, and even though it’s a printed copy it’s a prized possession and I won’t let the double helix steal that from me. Long live the monkey flower, Long live Mimulus!
