LIttle known fact, the Blue alpine Phacelia is a gold hyperaccumulator, some researchers in British Columbia, testing the silky phacelia growing on alluvial deposits downstream of gold mining found it had a much higher gold content in it’s tissues than the surrounding soils! Doesn’t mean you have to shave off your jewelry to fertilize it but maybe if your rock garden is sitting on some gold deposits?????? Who knows? Gold accumulating aside, it’s one of the queens of the alpine western flora, silky silver foliage, and purple blue flowers.
