Ptilotrichum spinosum

$15.00
sold out

Native to the Caucasus region, Ptilotrichum spinosum is a compact, spiny subshrub in the Brassicaceae family. It forms low, dense mounds of silvery-grey foliage and produces small white flowers in late spring to early summer. Another one that came to us from Kathy Allen, this is a fantastic multi season shrub, silvery moon garden worthy foliage, and smothered in blooms, these do vary a bit from white to pink changing with age.

Cultivation:
Best suited to rock gardens or troughs, it thrives in full sun and well-drained, alkaline to neutral soils. Drought-tolerant and hardy, it prefers dry conditions and benefits from protection against winter wet. Minimal maintenance required.

Hardy to approximately USDA zones 5 to 7. It can tolerate cold winters down to around -20°C to -15°C (-4°F to 5°F), especially in well-drained soil. Good drainage is key to its winter survival, particularly in wetter climates.
