Sedum lanceolatum

$8.00
sold out

Our collection from the Wallowa Mountains of northeastern Oregon, this hardy native stonecrop exemplifies the rugged beauty of the American West. In its alpine haunts, Sedum lanceolatum thrives on exposed talus, rocky slopes, and dry ridgelines where few other plants can survive, rooting into cracks and gravelly soils at high elevations.

The plant forms low rosettes of fleshy, lance-shaped leaves that range from fresh green in spring to flushed red or bronze tones under summer sun or drought stress. In late spring to early summer, the rosettes are topped with bright yellow, starry flowers that bring a burst of color to rocky outcrops and attract native bees, flies, and butterflies.

In cultivation, this collection is ideal for troughs, scree beds, and crevice gardens, where its tough, drought-tolerant habit and seasonal color shifts can be appreciated up close. It thrives in full sun, gritty soil, and excellent drainage, and is fully hardy to USDA zone 3. Once established, it is virtually indestructible, enduring heat, drought, and cold alike.

With its wild provenance from the Wallowa Mountains, this form of Sedum lanceolatum carries the spirit of the high Northwest peaks into the garden—an authentic, pollinator-friendly alpine that is both beautiful and nearly unkillable although seldom seen succulent.
