A limestone cliff dweller, from the Mediterranean this is a smaller version of S. lutea but horticulturally important because you need it in your collection! Excellent drainage is important. Although I grow all my bulbs in a well drained fairly calcareous mix, fertilizing in the spring is important for any bulbs grown in containers.
