Tulipa 'Leo'

$8.00
sold out

A bold and unforgettable presence in the spring garden, Tulipa 'Leo' dazzles with deep crimson-red blooms edged in dramatically fringed, irregular petals that ripple like flames. This unique tulip combines the classic stature of a Darwin Hybrid with the wild beauty of a fringed tulip, creating a striking contrast between refined form and untamed texture. Each flower appears almost sculptural, with its intricate, jagged petal edges catching light and movement.

Discovered in the Netherlands by grower Leo Aardenburg, this distinctive sport of the classic 'Oxford' tulip was named in his honor. Like other Darwin Hybrids, 'Leo' is known for its strong stems, excellent weather resistance, and reliable perennial performance when planted in well-drained soil.

Blooming in mid-spring and reaching 16–18 inches tall, Tulipa 'Leo' shines in borders, cutting gardens, and spring containers. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8, it naturalizes best in climates with cold winters and dry summer dormancy.

For a splash of drama and texture, 'Leo' is a standout—fiery, fierce, and unforgettable. Increasingly hard to find!
